This course studies the genealogies of caste, a system of social and cultural hierarchy in South Asia, drawing from Hinduism and other religions. It studies how caste shapes everyday lives of segregation and discrimination, work, political economy and labour regimes, and the anti-caste thought and movements in South Asia.
