This course introduces students to the diverse geographic approaches and research methods used to study health, environments, and society. Students will explore quantitative and qualitative methodologies, including spatial analysis, participatory mapping, mobile interviews, and community-engaged research. Emphasis is placed on ethical and critical frameworks such as decolonizing methodologies and anti-racist research practices. Through hands-on exercises and case studies, students will learn to design and implement research projects that address health disparities and promote equity, while critically reflecting on the power dynamics inherent in knowledge production. This course fulfills 1 field day.
