This program explores the history, languages, politics, societies, cultures, religions, and geographies of Latin America and the Caribbean. The minor is geared towards building an engagement with Latin America and the Caribbean as well as with their communities in Canada and the United States. Students may take courses offered by several departments across the university. The minor in Latin American and Caribbean Studies prepares students for careers in a competitive global context in which the greater part of the Western Hemisphere plays an increasingly important role.

While study of a relevant language is encouraged, the program does not have a language requirement.
